When you fill out the membership form, you have an opportunity to indicate if you are interested in being a active volunteer at the Mansion on the Hill. At the present time, the only paid positions are the curators that are responsible for the operation of the Mansion during the summer. The KCHS board likes to have two people at the Mansion during open hours. The RSVP has been taking on this assignment for many years but sometime they need help. Some of the other volunteer needs are listed below.
Inventory verification: Several successful grants have resulted in equipment that can be used to establish a data base with pictures. Several years ago, a girl scout project, resulted in the transfer of written inventory records to a computer data base. We would now like to add pictures to this data base using the computer and digital camera purchased with moneys received from these grants. If you would be interested in helping with this project during the summer months please let us know.
Catalog, Preservation, and Storage of historical materials found at the Mansion on the Hill. Again the KCHS received a grant to finance our project to catalog historical materials we have at the Mansion on the Hill, make copies where possible and preserve the original materials with proper preservation techniques and then store them where they can be accessed when needed.
The KCHS also has need for volunteers to serve on the following committees:
Yard and Garden Committee. This volunteer group takes care of the lawn and flowers found on the Mansion grounds.
Special Events Committee. This volunteer group takes care of any events that are planned at the Mansion. They plan the money making activities for the KCHS which include such events as a Mother’s Day Tea, Holiday Home Tour, and any special Victorian dinners for anniversary/birthday parties, bridal luncheons or just a meeting.
Friends of the Mansion Committee. This committee is considered a multi-purpose volunteer group and will be called upon when the Christmas Tree needs to be put up and the mansion decorated, when the mansion needs a Spring cleaning, when some cookies need to be made for a special money making project. Etc..
