The history of District 7
schools can be found in another publication called "Patchwork Memories"
stories and pictures from the history of Keith County District 7 and is available at the mansion gift
shop. This book was created
to commemorate the history of Keith County District 7. It was produced in
2003 after the school closed its doors ending over 100 years of educating
students. It is dedicated to the students, teachers, families, and
community who supported the school throughout its history. It covers memories of the school up to its closing several years ago. The
one room school that is north of the mansion was once
located in district 7 and moved to this mansion location in 1966. This memory
booklet is priced at $12.00 and there are very few copies left .
The history of the one room
rural school in western Nebraska is covered in a book called "School Days
with a glimpse of the past". This book was written by Helen Williams
and covers a wide range of experiences teaching
in the one room schools of Arthur county.This
book is priced at $20.00.
Another book by local author
Roy D. Whiteley and is called "Hayfire and the Gunfighter's
Granddaughter. Explosive excitement on the HIGH PLAINS. This soft
cover book sells for $10.00
